저는 동물을 그리며 세상의 이야기를 하는 작가입니다.
요즘 동물을 키우는 사람들을 쉽게 접할 수 있습니다. 사람들은 자신이 키우는 반려동물을 진짜 가족처럼 여기며 사랑합니다. 반려동물 뿐만 아니라, 야생동물들을 보며 즐거워하거나 슬퍼하며 다양한 감정을 느끼는 사람들을 보면서, 동물을 통해 느끼는 다양한 감정들이 어떤 부분에서는 인간관계 보다도 더 깊다고 생각했습니다.
이러한 감정들을 가지고 제 작품을 마주한다면, 어떤 다른 요소보다도 동물은 사람들에게 제 이야기를 전하기에 완벽한 역할이 되어줍니다.
동물에게서 느끼는 다양한 감정들에 집중하여 제 작품 속에 담겨있는 현대사회의 이야기에 대해 같이 고민해 보았으면 합니다.
I am an artist who tells stories of the world through drawings of animals.
Today, it’s common to see people living with pets. Many treat their animals not just as companions, but as true family. Watching people experience joy, sorrow, and a wide range of emotions when interacting not only with pets but also with wild animals, I began to feel that the emotional connection we form with animals can sometimes be even deeper than those we share with other humans.
With that in mind, animals naturally become the perfect medium through which I can convey my stories—more so than any other subject.
By focusing on the emotions animals evoke in us, I hope viewers can reflect on the narratives of contemporary society embedded in my work.
